Vacation time
I know I shouldn't encourage the count down of school ending but I am. Only because with two kids one is always bored at home with mom all day and because it means summer and VACATION TIME. We have a lot of fun plans this summer and we can't wait to get started. This will mean that we will have a lot of pictures to share. I look forward to seeing family and friends. This year we have family reunions for both of our families. Mine will include all of my fathers side of the family and his will include all of his siblings except one. But he has a good reason. Flying for the airforce keeps you busy. So we send our love out to all of you and hope to see some of you this summer.

Mt. Rushmore
Man was this a fun trip. They had snow just the day before so all the trails were closed. So we have decided to go back again in May. We stayed at a hotel with a pool and the kids loved that so we will do that again.
This was a rest stop and the kids were so ready to play that we didn't fight it.

I saw these and thought it would be fun to get a picture of them sitting on them.
This is the entrance to Mt. Rushmore. If you can't tell it is the kids and I.
Here is Dad and the kids looking down the entrance. There were flags for every state. I thought we would hit the ones we lived in.
Aaahh Mt. Rushmore. It was breath taking.
Gutzon Borglum is the man who was in charge of the sculpting of Mt. Rushmore. He used TNT to do most of the work and he had a big crew to help. There is a video you can watch on this at the lodge.

The grand Terrace. Beyond this is the mountain and just past the wall where the people are standing is the stadium. They have light shows at night on the faces of Mt. Rushmore. We didn't get to see it this time. It was too cold.

Devils tower
Okay, If you have seen close encounters you know what we are talking about by Devils Tower. If you haven't well it is a very cool tower out in the middle of no where. We decided to check it out because it sounded cool and it is only a two hour drive from us. We decided to go to Devils tower after we saw Mt. Rushmore because it was on our way back from there just 26 miles outside of a town called Gillette, Wyoming.
Here is the Tower.
There are two trails you can take around the tower. The first one here is a mile hike around the base. We took this one and it was so snowy that we were hiking in the snow. But it was fun and well worth it.
This trail is about a three mile hike. I think! It was so snow covered that you couldn't take this trail. But we are planning another trip in May so we will hopefully get to experience it then.

This was a fun picture we took of the two of them. Munster wanted to go on the trail so bad. But I was afraid of slipping and falling so we told her we weren't going. But this lady and her 9 yar old daughter talked us into going. So that is why Munster is not happy in this picture. This was before we decided to take the trail.
Here we all are at the base.
Just around the tower to the right of us in the above picture, taking the trail there is a wonderful view. That is what this picture is of. I can only imagine what the view is from the top of the Tower.
These next two pictures show a ladder that a man built to climb the Tower. He was the first to make it to the top of the Tower. The ladder is still standing it is in the third crack from the left side of the picture. There are also people climing the tower just to the right of the ladder. The ladder is 350 feet tall, from the bottom to the top of the Tower. The man's wife climbed the ladder several years after he died to be the first woman to climb the tower.
There is a man coming down the Tower in the left side of this picture. He made it to the top and was coming back down. While we were sitting there.
These are some shots I took from the bottom of the tower around to the left side on the trail.
It was cool to see this. It was very fun to show the kids a great natural wonder.

Preparing for Easter
We decorated our Easter egg's before we went on our trip to Mt. Rushmore. That way they would be done when we got back. We only plan on being gone for two days. Here are the egg's we did. We only did a dozen because we didn't need more than that.

More pics to come!
I am downloading a bunch of pictures to share. But I am not going to take the time to put them on today. We took a trip to Mt. Rushmore and to Devil's tower so there are some great pictures of all of that. We also had a great Easter and I will post all the fun tomorrow. For now I am going to go spend time with my kids. It is good to have contact with others on facebook. I just had to put that in here. I think it is a great way to keep in contact with all the great friends you have made along the way and all of the family that you love and miss so very much. WE LOVE YOU ALL!

TOO MUCH SNOW!
Okay if you know me you know I am living in the WRONG state. I hate snow! Yeah sure it is pretty to look at. But I hate everything else that goes with snow. The cold! The terrible roads! The fact that it feels like it lasts from OCTOBER to APRIL. Oh wait it is doing that! So here are our last two storms. I wanted to get a picture of the last snow fall of the year. But I gave up because we are STILL getting that darn stuff. So enjoy the snow. YOU CAN HAVE IT!
